FlipbookIQ
Turn a Word document or PowerPoint deck into a page-turning flipbook, and share it with one link.
Your document never leaves your computer. Only the finished page images are uploaded, and only when you publish.
Word and PowerPoint install an add-in from one small file, the manifest. It contains no code — only the add-in's name, its ribbon button and the address it loads from. The add-in itself is free; making flipbooks and saving copies on your computer costs nothing. Publishing online has a free tier and paid plans on the pricing page.
Download Kixlogic-Flipbook-manifest.xml
Some company browsers block downloads. Copy the text below into Notepad, then File ▸ Save as, set Save as type to All files and name it Kixlogic-Flipbook-manifest.xml. Or try Save file, which asks the browser directly.
Word or PowerPoint on the web (Microsoft 365)
- Open any document or presentation in Word or PowerPoint on the web: office.com (a desktop file can be opened there from OneDrive or SharePoint).
- Home ▸ Add-ins (or Insert ▸ Add-ins) ▸ More Add-ins.
- Choose the MY ADD-INS tab. At the top right click Upload My Add-in ▸ Browse… ▸ pick
Kixlogic-Flipbook-manifest.xml▸ Upload. - A Make a flipbook button appears on the Home ribbon for that browser session.
- Microsoft 365 admin center ▸ Settings ▸ Integrated apps ▸ Upload custom apps.
- App type Office Add-in ▸ Provide link to manifest file ▸
https://flipbook.kixlogic.com/addin/manifest.xml▸ Validate. - Assign the users or groups; accept; done. It appears in their Word and PowerPoint within a few hours.
What it is: an Office task-pane add-in (the same technology as the Microsoft-built add-ins). It loads its pane and Microsoft's Office.js library over HTTPS from flipbook.kixlogic.com. Pages are rendered on the user's own computer; the .docx or .pptx is never uploaded. Only when the user chooses to publish are the finished page images sent to flipbook.kixlogic.com. Readers of a published flipbook need only a browser. If your web filter allows by hostname, flipbook.kixlogic.com is the only Kixlogic host involved. Questions: support@kixlogic.com.
Word or PowerPoint for Windows (desktop)
Desktop Office has no Upload My Add-in button; that is by design, not a fault. It loads an add-in from a shared folder instead. At work that is a team or department share, at home your own PC's.
- Save
Kixlogic-Flipbook-manifest.xmlinto a folder of its own, e.g.C:\Kixlogic, and share that folder (right-click ▸ Properties ▸ Sharing ▸ Share, give yourself Read access). At work you can instead use a team share you already have, e.g.\\fileserver\Marketing\Kixlogic. - File ▸ Options ▸ Trust Center ▸ Trust Center Settings ▸ Trusted Add-in Catalogs.
- In Catalog Url paste the folder's network path, e.g.
\\YOUR-PC\Kixlogic. Click Add catalog, tick Show in Menu, OK twice. - Close Word or PowerPoint completely and reopen it.
- Home ▸ Add-ins ▸ More Settings (older builds: Insert ▸ My Add-ins) ▸ the SHARED FOLDER tab ▸ FlipbookIQ ▸ Add.
\\: a plain C:\Kixlogic is accepted and then silently never works. And missing Show in Menu means the add-in never appears. If the Trusted Add-in Catalogs page is greyed out, or Windows will not let you share the folder, company policy has blocked this route — send IT the note above instead. Installed once, it works in both Word and PowerPoint.Where it works
PowerPoint on Windows, Mac and the web. Word on Windows. In Word on Mac and on the web, Microsoft does not let add-ins render a document, so the pane signs you in, lists your flipbooks and opens the Studio at flipbook.kixlogic.com/studio instead.
Upgrading
Sign in with your email (a six-digit code, no password) from the pane or the Studio, then choose Upgrade. Pro is $19 a month; Business is $24.99 per seat a month, ten seats minimum. Cancel any time from the same place.
